Sampling Distributions

This tutorial is designed to help you understand the process of sampling and the importance of sampling distributions for hypothesis testing. The tutorial begins with an overview of the process of sampling. It is followed by demonstrations of the different sampling distributions for univariate statistical inference. Once you understand how sampling distributions are derived and their role in hypothesis testing, you should test your knowledge by doing the practice exercises.

This tutorial assumes that you understand the concepts of population, parameter, sample and statistic and know the basic descriptive statistics -- mean, median, mode, standard deviation and variance.

Students enrolled in PSYC230 - Applied Statistics for Psychology - who wish to receive extra credit for doing the tutorial should take the quiz posted on the Blackboard at Emory class site.
