Students

Benjamin Basile, bbasile@emory.edu, Advisor: Robert Hampton

Shala Blue, snblue@emory.edu, Advisor: Jocelyne Bachevalier

Molly Embree, membree@emory.edu, Advisor: Kim Wallen
Research Interests: I have examined acute and chronic glucocorticoid and behavioral response to environmental change in golden lion tamarins (Leontopithecus rosalia) in captivity.

Colleen Gault, cgault@learnlink.emory.edu, Advisor: Frans de Waal
Research Interests: Behavioral endocrinology, especially in regards to social interaction and stress; conciliatory behavior; and self-medicating behavior (zoopharmacognosy) among Capuchin monkeys in both wild and experimental settings.

Courtney Glavis-Bloom, cglavis@emory.edu, Advisor: Jocelyne Bachevalier
Research Interests: Learning and memory in primates

Ebony Glover, eglover@emory.edu, Advisor: Michael Davis
Research Interests: My research concerns the neurobiology of aversively motivated learning and memory. Employing a Pavlovian fear conditioning paradigm, we use pharmacological and neurobiological manipulations to assess various aspects of fear memory.

Janice Hassett, jhasset@emory.edu, Advisor: Kim Wallen
Research Interests: I am interested in how social variables influence cognition and perception, and hope to use eye-tracking technology in future research with socially-housed rhesus monkeys.

Jennifer Juergensen-McGee, jmjuerg@emory.edu, Advisor: Darryl Neill
Research Interests: Neurobiological effects of drugs on behavior.

Andrew Kazama, akazama@emory.edu, Advisor: Jocelyne Bachevalier
Research Interests: Investigating the neurobiological basis and development of decision-making with a special emphasis placed on the role of the amygdala, hippocampus, and orbital frontal cortex.

Magdalena Krysiak, mkrysia@emory.edu, Advisor: Hillary Rodman

Cary Leung, chleung@emory.edu, Advisor: Donna Maney
Research Interests: My research focuses on understanding how the brain modulates social behavior in songbirds. My plan is to combine lab and field studies on the white-throated sparrow to understand how vasotocin affects aggressive behavior.

Regina Paxton, rpaxton@emory.edu, Advisor: Robert Hampton
Research Interests: I am interested in primate social cognition and how these abilities relate to social structure.

Christa Payne, cpayne2@emory.edu, Advisor: Jocelyne Bachevalier
Research Interests: My research focuses on the anatomical and functional development of the amygdala, perirhinal cortex and orbital frontal cortex and the impact early damage to these areas has on the neuroanatomical organization and socio-emotional behavior in rhesus macaques.

Joshua Plotnik, jplotni@learnlink.emory.edu, Advisor: Frans de Waal
Research Interests: Animal social behavior, reciprocal altruism, behavioral economics, and animal cognition.

Jennifer Pokorny, jpokorn@emory.edu, Advisor: Frans de Waal
Research Interests: I study face recognition and categorization of conspecifics in capuchin monkeys (Cebus apella), a New World monkey species.

Jessica Raper, jraper@emory.edu, Advisor: Jocelyne Bachevalier

Sara Sanford, sesanfo@emory.edu, Advisor: Donna Maney

Shannon Stephens, ssteph3@emory.edu, Advisor: Kim Wallen

Malini Suchak, msuchak@emory.edu, Advisor: Frans de Waal
Research Interests: Primate social behavior and cognition, particularly behavior economics.

Marina Wheeler, mgwheel@emory.edu, Advisor: Darryl Neill

Alyson Zeamer, azeamer@emory.edu, Advisor: Jocelyne Bachevalier
Research Interests: I am interested in the neurological basis and development of learning and memory in primates.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Ikuma Adachi, iadachi@bun.kyoto-u.ac.jp, Advisor: Robert Hampton
Research Interests: Comparative cognitive approach to categorization abilities, cross-modal aspects and hierarchical structure of categories.

Matthew Campbell, matthew.campbell@emory.edu, Advisor: Frans de Waal
Research Interests: Empathy and empathy precursors in nonhuman primates, imitation, social learning, preparing captive-born animals for reintroduction.

Anne-Pierre S. Goursaud, agoursa@emory.edu, Advisor: Jocelyne Bachevalier
Research Interests: Neurobiological mechanisms underlying the development of complex social and emotional behaviors and cognitive skills in primates and understand how these processes may be altered in some psychiatric disorders, such as autism.

Victoria Horner, vhorner@rmy.emory.edu, Advisor: Frans de Waal

Julie Martin-Malivel, jmalive@emory.edu, Advisor: Kim Wallen

Karin Pazol, kpazol@emory.edu, Advisor: Kim Wallen
